TEACHER'S CORNER

1. Intended Audience:
The intended audience for this WebQuest is a first grade classroom. The students should be monitored for help with the computer.

2. Learning Goals:
The goals of this WebQuest is to teach the first grade students about the food pyramid and how each part of it is beneficial. Not only do I want the students to learn about the food pyramid but also how to construct a day of healthy meals. Along with these basic goals I hope the students will work on their sentence construction and creativity with the making of their final project.

3.Skills Students Need:
The students need to know how to use a computer. They need to be able to get to the blog and click on the links for the games. They also need to have some basic knowledge of sentence construction for their final project.

4. Projected Time for Quest:
The time needed to complete this project is about two to three weeks. This time will vary depending on the quality of work you receive from the students. The students should have about an hour a day for two days to fiddle around on the websites/tasks. After that the students will need about an hour a day for the next two weeks to work on their books. At the beginning of week two the students should submit their rough drafts so the teacher can correct their sentence construction. The teacher will also get a chance to make sure their menu’s are healthy.

5.Grading Guidelines:
The students will be graded on their completion of this project. Because it is only first grade sentence construction does not need to be perfect however it should be obvious that the students spent some time and the required websites. “Check Plus” work shows a complete understanding of the food pyramid and shows that a lot of time was spent on the project. “Check” work is based on completion of the final project. It is not done to perfection but shows some effort. “Check minus” work shows that the students have no understanding of the food pyramid and put in little effort to the project.
